- Besides reaching peak of this game, StarCraft can also be recognized as a millstone where I transit from a gamer to a game designer and developer. Along with this RTS masterpiece is a powerful map editor, the
StarCraft 2 Galaxy Editor, that creators can build their own map/mod/even a new game.
- I built my first "game" in the map editor, named "Khol Conflicts" in CN server. While making it, I was charmed by how beautiful the process of instantiating game ideas to reality is, which finally led me to a real game engine, yea, Unity. In this boy's far future, he would never knew he could work for the game engine company,
designing courses about game development.
- Mastering a strategy game might be harder than you think, it requires practices, reaction-time, and strategic thinking and mathematical skills. I trained them when I play
Go Chess in childhood as well. While playing with constantly thinking about the mechanics and structure behind the game, this also helped me to first grow some very primitive awareness of game design principles (I didn't know MDA, etc. during that time, but this experience helped a lot when I finally started learning game design theories and principle systematically).
- This record helped me to receive the ticket to
the UW-Madison ESport Club, where I joined Overwatch Team 1 as the 1st DPS role. Later, we won the
Top 50 Competitor Reward in the Tespa League
